The Bid4Boquete Foundation Council is pleased to announce that, due to this year’s fundraising success, a record amount of money has been given to local charitable and civic organizations. The 2014 event grossed $103,582.98, with expenses totaling $12,336.76. Of the remaining $91,246.22 net proceeds, $81,000 or $16,000 more than last year, has been awarded, with $10,246.22 retained for future operations.
$54,700 was divided equally between the two major beneficiaries, Amigos de Animales de Boquete and Buenos Vecinos de Boquete. The remaining $26,300 was awarded in mini-grants in varying amounts to Alto al Crimen, Biblioteca de Boquete (the library), Boquete Artworks Children’s Art Program, Boquete Hospice and Health Care Foundation, Boquete Knitters and Quilters, Colegio Benigno Tomás Argote High School Brass Band, Fundacion Pro-Integracion, Santa Lucia Kids Camp, and Volcancito Medical Mission (Panama Christian Evangelism).
The Council met on April 10 to determine distribution.
Thank you to everyone for making the plant sale such a huge success, with a $406 profit!
In addition to all the other plant donations, Pat and Susan Ferrell contributed $150 worth of vouchers for herb gardens ($15 each) and all but two of those have sold.
Committee chairman Ken Campeau had to leave the plant sale in the capable hands of his wife Becky while he rushed Linda Pedersen to the hospital with a broken ankle. Linda is the grand dame (jefa grande) of the monthly flea market.
