Main stage events on the weekend of February 9 and 10, 2013 begin with the Art, Jewelry, and Decorative Household Items Sale, from 10AM to 2PM at the Centro de Eventos (BCP building). Featured will be work by local artists as well as donations from personal art collections, special jewelry, and new or like-new decorative items for the home. Fun shopping for a worthy cause!
At the same venue and starting at 5PM we open the doors for the Wine Tasting. Twelve wines from six countries, hors d’oeuvres prepared by the area’s best restaurants and cooks, as well as background music provided Boquete’s own Rhody Edwards, promises to create a gala social occasion. Boquete tends to dress up for this fun event! Tickets are limited, so buy yours now at the Bid 4 Boquete venue at the Tuesday Morning Market or from the staff at Mailboxes, Etc.
Your $20 ticket to the Wine Tasting also affords entry to the Live Auction beginning immediately following the Wine Tasting at 7PM. Up for bid will be hotel and resort stays, dinners, luxury goods, tours, fine art, and even a construction crew for a day! Some of the best, most creative and generously donated items are selected for the Live Auction.
The REALLY BIG day is Sunday, February 10 from 12 NOON to 5PM at the Fairgrounds! Bid 4 Boquete is justly proud of this community-wide event, with something for everyone. In addition to the Silent Auction featuring hundreds of items and services for sale to the highest bidder, an expanded Venta de Patio of goods and clothing donated by our generous community draws crowds of savvy shoppers. Children’s Activities include games, face painting, and photographs of the occasion. There will be plenty of Food and Drink, from tipico offerings of arroz con pollo, tamales, and potato salad prepared by the ladies from the Handicap Center to hamburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs and bowls of chili. Soft drinks, beer, wine, and rum will be available to quench your thirst. You can enjoy a sweet treat from the Bake Sale or buy goodies to take home. In addition two Raffles will test your luck for a great prize. Sunday, February 10 at the Fairgrounds’ Arco Iris Room is the place to be to experience the spirit of Boquete’s generous heart!
Auction items may be previewed online at www.bid4boquete.com, which contains a Buy It Now for full price feature. Bid 4 Boquete reminds the community that items purchased benefit not only the buyer, as many goods and services are those you would buy anyway, but also charitable and civic organizations throughout the area. Primary beneficiaries are the Handicap Center, Buenos Vecinos de Boquete, the Rotary Club, and Amigos de Animales de Boquete. Following the event and depending on the amount of money raised, mini-grants of up to $1500 each also are awarded to other organizations.
The work of B4B is made possible by hundreds of volunteers and community donors. For the third year, Banco General has been the event sponsor as well as a corporate sponsor through two of its foundations, Fundación Privada de Frederico Humbert and Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos. Other corporate sponsors are Habla Ya Language School, Casa Solutions, and Chiriqui Storage.
Please visit the Bid 4 Boquete website, learn about the B4B mission and the organizations it supports, place a bid or two. Donate money, goods, or services. Patronize our sponsors and donor businesses. And mark your calendars now for all the 2013 Bid 4 Boquete events.
